into vibration in their natural state. One of the five main classes of
instruments in the Sachs-Hornbostel system, idiophones are
further classified as: concussion idiophones, struck idiophones, stamped idiophones, stamping idiophones, shaken idiophones, scraped idiophones, plucked idiophones, or friction idiophones.
