Joanna Weiss (b. 1972)
Reporter and columnist for the Boston Globe. Weiss majored in history and literature at Harvard, graduating in 1994. Studying “Hist & Lit” is a “great foundation for a journalism career,” says Weiss, because it teaches you “to hone your arguments and think on your feet. . . . And you’ll get practice for the days when you routinely have to sum up your worldview in 700 words.” A contributor to Slate, Weiss writes mostly about gender and pop culture. She is now at work on a novel satirizing “breastfeeding, politics, and female competition.”
