Ellen Goodman (b. 1941)

Syndicated columnist. Goodman joined the Boston Globe as a columnist in 1967, and readers soon warmed to the quietly serious voice she brought to American political discourse. Her columns are published in nearly four hundred newspapers around the country. Her books include six collections of her columns, most recently Paper Trail: Common Sense in Uncommon Times (2004). In 1980 she was awarded a Pulitzer Prize for distinguished commentary.
