Examine as many different perspectives on the issue as possible, paying particular attention to how people try to advance their point of view. Do the people mentioned generally provide reasons for their views? That is, do they usually try to give reasons why someone should accept their positions—or do they simply insist that their views are right without offering any supporting considerations? (Good places to start include CNN.com, USAToday.com, and NYTimes.com.)
